Since our founding, ESI has delivered environmental solutions for clients in a wide range of business activities throughout the United States and abroad.

With thousands of completed projects over nearly 50 years, we’ve developed a broad suite of environmental services. Regardless of project size or scope, we deliver a complete, effective, and sustainable solution.

ESI was contracted to investigate, assess, and remediate a 12 acre brownfield site on the west side of Jersey City, NJ that previously supported a chromium smelting facility operating from the early 1900s until 1954.

Big Box Retail

Under a competitively bid contract, ESI won the demolition of the current undersized wastewater treatment system, which was not meeting State water discharge standards, and the construction of an expanded treatment system with 40 percent additional capacity.

Water Treatment Plant

Abandoned since 2000, the site was formerly the General Dynamics Electric Boat facility. New plans called for the development of residential housing, a 25,000 sq.ft. retail strip, and a 10,000 sq. ft. performing arts venue.

Avenel Arts Village

At this former airplane parts manufacturing facility along the Hudson River, PCBs threatened the opportunity for redevelopment. ESI found ways to remove PCBs from concrete surfaces effectively, and with no fugitive emissions. This made project economics favorable while reducing community concern with remediation.

Riverfront Luxury Residential

Sound environmental engineering analysis of potential community impacts identified specific practical solutions that protected community civil rights and allowed the timely completion of this important transportation infrastructure project.

Atlantic City Tunnel

The purchaser of 28 ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, casting facilities, machining/finish casting, warehouses, and landfills retained ESI to conduct due diligence site assessments

Multi-Site Due Diligence

ESI, along with our construction services partners, worked in unison to expeditiously investigate, assess, design, and safely implement remedial actions at an active transformer substation of a chemical manufacturing facility.

Active Transformer Substation

At this former industrial complex in central New Jersey, ESI provided investigation, remedial plan development, and contractor oversight for the abatement of asbestos within the abandoned powerhouse building.

Asbestos Abatement

ESI provided an innovative solution to the disposal of an aboveground tank and its contents. Although others initially estimated disposal to cost $1.2 million, we completed the project for under $600,000.

PCB Sludge Remediation

ESI discovered that the existing jet fuel hydrant fueling system was leaking, compromising the effectiveness of adjacent remediation and impacting construction activities.

JFK Airport Remediation

ESI was contracted to upgrade New England Village Apartments’ fuel storage facility and bring it into compliance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection regulations.

Multifamily UST Replacement

This high visibility project within an active business district bordered by residential housing demanded crisp execution of construction tasks with work hour limitations to maintain good community relations.

Superfund Site Remediation

At this former petroleum refinery site in Jersey City, NJ, ESI facilitated the approval of this site for redevelopment.

Petroleum Terminal Remediation

Soil and groundwater concerns at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California resulted from former dry cleaning operations located in the basement laundry area.

Resort Hotel Remediation

ESI was contracted by the Borough of Mountainside, NJ to investigate and remediate the site of a suspected UST on a vacant property in a mixed residential/commercial area.
